2 schools report positive cases, Ghaziabad ramps up testing | Noida News

Ghaziabad: Two schools in Ghaziabad had reported positve cases of Covid-19, following which an intensive disinfection drive was launched by the health department, said officials on Monday.
Two staffers of a government school at Hapur Road and a student of a private school located in the industrial area of NH-9 have tested positive, they said.
Health officials said all staff and students – those who came in contact with the patients — of both schools have been tested for Covid. Also, families of classmates of the positive students will be tested.
Recently, 30 trainee engineers tested positive at CPWD training centre on Hapur road. Besides, two staffers were found infected with the virus at an engineering college.
In view of hike in cases, the health department said on a notice of five days, the hospitals that which served as Covid facilities can be directed to start admitting patients again.
At the government level, the district currently has a provision of 400 Covid beds in Santosh Hospital. Along with this, there are 100 beds in District Combined Hospital.
The district currently has 127 active patients. Of these, 60 patients are in home isolation.
District magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey directed the health department to conduct 1,700 RT-PCR tests daily. The overall target for Ghaziabad is 5,200 tests daily.
In GB Nagar, the nodal officer in charge of Covid-19 in GB Nagar, Narendra Bhooshan, held an extensive meeting on Sunday with top officials and over 90 resident body federations among others. “RWAs were instructed to monitor travellers from outside states in their sectors,” said Bhooshan.
DM GB Nagar Suhas LY said: “We have ramped up testing to about 3,500 to 4,000. If needed, we will enforce micro containment zone strategy.”
