Congress alliance in Assam shifts its MLA candidates to Jaipur | Guwahati News

JAIPUR : The opposition alliance led by Congress party expecting the chances of a hung assembly in Assam and BJP poaching on its prospective MLAs had shifted a few of them to Jaipur on Friday.
Sources confirmed that at least 22 of its candidates have reached jaipur by flight and have been taken to Fairmount hotel on the outskirts of Jaipur. However, how long they will stay in jaipur is not known as the counting of the poll is scheduled on May 2.
The candidates include those from the Maulana Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and the Left, sources said.
They have been kept in the same hotel in the state capital of Congress-ruled Rajasthan where the party’s MLAs were holed up last July during its internal crisis triggered by the rebellion of Sachin Pilot.
Assam, where the BJP came to power in the last elections, voted for a new government in three phases between March 27 and April 6. The results are due on May 2 along with those for polls in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.
