Covid-19 active cases cross 400-mark in Puducherry | Puducherry News

PUDUCHERRY: The number of active Covid-19 cases in the Union territory of Puducherry crossed the 400-mark on Monday. The territory reported 47 fresh cases even as 29 patients recovered in the last 24 hours as of 10am on Monday taking the total number of active case to 412.
Puducherry headquarters reported the maximum active cases in the last 24 hours with 43 while Karaikal and Mahe reported two cases each. Puducherry has the maximum active cases with 303 followed by Karaikal (76), Mahe (31) and Yanam (2).
A 65-year-old Karaikal woman with complaints of diabetes and hypertension died after testing Covid-19 positive, taking the death toll to 676. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum fatalities with 549 followed by Karaikal (72), Yanam (45) and Mahe (10). The fatality rate of the infection stood at 1.7%.
The territory has so far reported 40,433 cases. As many as 39,345 patients recovered, registering a recovery rate of 97.3%. Healthcare authorities have so far sent 6.54 lakh swab samples for testing of which 6.07 lakh samples returned negative.
The positivity rate of the samples (519) tested on Sunday stood at 9.1%, one of the highest in the recent times. The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services administered the Covid-19 vaccine to 19,627 healthcare workers, 7,146 frontline workers and 17,393 others – a total of 44,166 people so far.
