Four fake scribes held for extortion | Vadodara News


Vadodara: The police on Tuesday arrested four persons for extorting money from a spa owner and her employees on Sama Savli Road.
The accused trio identified themselves as journalists and demanded Rs 2 lakh from Ritu Pandit, a resident of Makarpura, who works at the Feelings Spa. The fifth accused is yet to be arrested.
According to the police, the accused barged into the spa on last Friday and accused the owners of indulging in shady activities.
“They began yelling at the employees and said that they have to come to check the spa. The accused also showed their identity cards and then locked the spa from inside,” the police said.
The accused identified as Devang Bhatia, Mohammed Siddique, Sunny Shinde and Keyur Barot then demanded to talk with the owner and sought Rs 2 lakh. The accused said that if they were not paid the money, they will make videos of the spa employees and make them viral. When the owner refused to pay the money, the accused began threatening the employees and spent over four hours in the spa.
They then took away Rs 17,000 from Pandit and left the spot. The next day one of the accused called up a spa employee and asked her to keep the spa open else he will send the police.
Pandit finally filed a complaint of extortion against the accused on Monday evening. While Sunny is from Gujarat National News Agency, Devang and Keyur are from Visfot News and Mohammed Siddique is with Advent of Gujarat News. The four accused Aakash Kahar from N N News is yet to be arrested.
“We have seized their identity cards and are investigating if any more persons are involved in the crime,” a police official said.
