GAYA: Four suspected Maoist commanders were killed in an encounter carried out jointly by the CRPF, CoBRA and the district armed police jawans on Tuesday. Security personnel also recovered three AK-47 and one Insas rifles from the encounter site at Maunbar under the Dumaria police station area, surrounded by dense forest and hills.
“The slain Maoists have been identified as zone commander Amresh Bhokta, sub-zone commanders Shivpujan, Shreekant Bhuian and Uday Paswan,” said Nisheet Kumar, CRPF 159 battalion commandant. “Security personnel have also recovered three AK-47s and one Insas rifle from the place of encounter, which lasted for about 15-20 minutes. A combing operation has been launched to nab the Maoists, who managed to escape.”
Security personnel had received inputs that an armed squad of the Maoists led by their commander Amresh Bhokta was camping in Dumaria to commit violence. On Tuesday, an encounter ensued between security personnel and the Maoists.
The distance between Chhakarbandha and Dumaria police stations is around 20 km. “The Maunbar area, where the encounter took place on Tuesday, is covered by dense forests having no scope for vehicular movement. The area falls along the border of Aurangabad district. The Maoists use this area as a safe passage to escape after committing violence in Gaya district,” a local villager said on condition of anonymity.
