UDUPI: The officials from the forest department in Kundapur have rescued a female leopard aged around two years from a 30-feet well on Friday.
At around 11am, locals saw the leopard falling into a well belonging to Ashok and located near the Durgaparameshwari temple in Sowkur.
RFO Prabhakar Kulal told TOI, on receiving information, we reached the spot to find the leopard sitting on a pipe attached to the pump in the 30 feet well. It could not sit there for long and was slipping. Initially, a basket was dropped into the well and once the leopard moved into the basket, the animal capturing cage was placed near the basket using ropes.
Once the leopard got into the cage, the forest officials pulled the cage out of the well. The animal will be released into the forest late evening.
