THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The national party leadership is trying to persuade disgruntled BJP leader Sobha Surendran to contest in the assembly election. There are reports that she is being considered for Kazhakkoottam seat, which was kept vacant by the party when the candidate list was announced.
Confirming the same, BJP state president K Surendran said, “Sobha Surendran will be contesting and party leadership is having discussions with her. The party wanted her to contest but she herself had asked the party not to consider her due to personal reasons.”
“I don’t have any differences with Sobha,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, Sobha Surendran said she was willing to contest at Kazhakottam to take on Kadakampally Surendran, who had tried to suppress the devotees during the Sabarimala agitations.
Sobha Surendran said she was changing her earlier decision to not contest after the party had asked her to take on Kadakampally. “Now there is no scope for any other debates,” she said.
