LUCKNOW: For the first time this year, the number of Covid-19 cases in a single day crossed 200-mark in the city on Tuesday, with 232 persons testing positive in the last 24 hours.
It was also the biggest single-day spike in 90 days after December 23 when 252 cases were recorded in 24 hours. The gravity of the situation could be gauged from the fact that one-third (36%) of the total cases in the state reported on Tuesday were from Lucknow.
In all other UP districts case count was below 50. What adds to the concern is that the number of recoveries are constantly keeping for the past two weeks. On Tuesday, just 38 patients recovered from the disease. As a result, the number of patients with active infection status has jumed to 954 from 222 on March 9.
Tuesday’s tally also took the caselaod to over 83,000.
