Maharashtra: Superintendent of tribal hostel dies of Covid-19 in Palghar | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: The Superintendent of a tribal hostel in Jawahar taluka of Palghar district died of COVID-19 in a Nashik hospital on Thursday.
Hostels in the district are being closed down till further orders from March 22 due to rising cases among students, teachers and staff of government tribal hostels.
Kishore Gadilohar (43), the superintendent of the Dabhosa government hostel in Jawahar was among the 79 persons, including 38 students of three tribal hostels who had tested positive early this week. He was admitted to the Nashik civil hospital. He was also in charge of the central kitchen at the nearby Vinval hostel.
Rural Palghar has seen a 78% rise in Covid-19 cases in March.
Over 68 students have so far tested positive On Thursday, cases in the district touched 47,090 of which 16,084 is in rural Palghar.
Meanwhile, Nalasopara MLA Kshitij Thakur has written to the state health minister Rajesh Tope for additional supply of vaccines for the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC). He said that the state has provided 38,900 doses of Covishield and 4,800 doses of Covaxin to the VVMC, which will not last for more than two days
