NOIDA: A delegation of the Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA) on Wednesday met the chief zonal engineer of the Noida power department demanding reversal of provisional and advance bill payment for April along with the dues of March. Following this, the department engineer agreed to their demands.
The delegation maintained that the industries, despite suffering losses during the pandemic, have paid their monthly power bills before the due dates. Hence, the decision for the advance collection of dues should be reversed.
There are over 9,000 such industries in Noida with 10kW to 500-1,000kW connections. The owners said that the additional burden of advance bill payment amounts to an extra burden on them.
“We have been issued provisional advanced power bills dues for April along with the March bill by the power department. They have done this to cover their revenue targets for March. In this context, we met VN Singh at his office in Sector 16 and demanded a reversal of advance payment,” said Vipin Malhan, NEA president.
“We had demanded a waiver of power bills during the pandemic since many industries shut down due to the lockdown. Apart from that, we have not received the interest on our security deposit. In this scenario, issuing provisional power bills in advance, that too with the threat of disconnection, does not justify any logic, especially when we have been paying our monthly dues on time,” said Malhan.
Meanwhile, the chief zonal engineer said: “No compulsory bill payments will be taken from the industrialists for April. However, those willing to pay are requested to do the same. No disconnection measures will be undertaken in this regard. Also, as regards interests on security deposits’ matter, the factory owners may write to their respective block-level office with receipts of the deposits done, so that the due amount can be adjusted in their future bills as desired.”
