Telangana School News: Schools and colleges to be temporarily shut in Telangana | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: The state government has decided to temporarily shut all the educational institutions in government and private sector with effect from Wednesday (March 24) to prevent spread of coronavirus, the second wave of which is on the rise.
Telangana education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy read out the statement on the floor of the assembly on Tuesday stating that the educational institutions except those involved in medical teaching, would be shut down until further orders.
During this second round of shut down of educational institutions, the respective managements will again start the online classes for the students. The shut down orders would be applicable to even the hostels and gurukuls.
“Off late, coronavirus positive cases are being reported from educational institutions. The teaching and non-teaching duties involve contact with mass gathering of students and poses a threat of spread of the coronavirus. The parents have raised concerns about the safety of their children. After examining the issue in detail, the government has decided to shut down educational institutions,” Sabitha said.
Stating that other states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh have already shut down its educational institutions, the Telangana education minister appealed to the people to cooperate with the state government in its efforts to check the spread of coronavirus by compulsorily wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and using sanitisers.
