AGRA: A 14-year-old girl’s semi-nude body was found in a pond in Agra’s Gailana Sikandara village on Friday.
Police said that the body was found just 200 meter from her house. The victim’s relatives alleged that the girl was murdered after being assaulted sexually.
Police said, the preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was strangled with her dupatta. However, the exact cause of death will be revealed in a post mortem report.
According to the victim’s relative, she had gone to relieve herself around 2 pm. When she did not return, her family members started searching for her and later one of their kin found the girl’s body in the jungle and informed the police.
Immediately, a police team reached the spot along with a forensic and dog squad team to collect evidence. Agitated local residents did not allow the police to take the body for post mortem but after intervention by senior police officials and BJP leaders, they allowed them to take the body.
SSP Babloo Kumar said the body has been sent for post mortem. “We have formed four teams under the supervision of SP (City) Botre Rohan Pramod to investigate all angles related to the crime,” he said, adding that the accused will be arrested soon.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
