Chandigarh: Haryana on Monday crossed the mark of one million vaccinations by administering dose to 2,48,312 people. It achieved the feat with within 66 days of the launch of vaccination drive. With the overall vaccination count now 11,56,313, Haryana is closer to 20% of the overall target of total beneficiaries identified by the health department.
In January, the department had identified around 67 lakh beneficiaries of various categories across the state. “The entire credit goes to robust planning and outstanding efforts of our field staff, who have been working overnight to motivate people for vaccination. People with comorbidities and senior citizens dominate the number of overall total vaccinations,’’ said additional chief secretary (health) Rajeev Arora.
During the day, Gurugram left behind other districts in the state highest vaccinations as well as overall tally. As many as 25,005 people were vaccinated in the district. At 23,700, Ambala recorded the second highest vaccinations, followed by Faridabad, where 21,715 took the jab.
Meanwhile, the state recorded another high of 865 new Covid cases on Monday, while three succumbed and 519 persons recovered during the day.
