GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah campaigned in three different corners of Assam on Monday by projecting BJP as the only party which has ensured peace and development in the state during the last five years.
Winding up his campaign for the day at Udalguri in Bodoland Territorial Region, Shah promised that all clauses of the Bodo Accord signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government last year will be implemented within two-and-a-half years. “We want peace and development in Bodo areas,” he said.
The home minister added that the Bodo youths, instead of picking up grenades, must use the computer to compete globally and “instead of using hand grenades, should contribute to developing the nation.”
Shah said the PM is always concerned about Assam’s development and of the Bodoland Territorial Region and “it is due to his initiative that peace has prevailed in the area.” He added, “During Congress rule, more than 5,000 people were killed in violence in the Bodoland.”
